Jimmy Rodríguez is currently recognized as one of the leading exponents of salsa in Mexico, with an international projection that continues to grow year after year.
In the fascinating world of Latin music, a star has emerged captivating audiences with his unique voice and compelling story. Jimmy Rodríguez has forged an extraordinary path, rising from humble beginnings to becoming a standout salsa artist shining on international stages.
Born in Mexico City and raised in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Jimmy began his musical journey singing on buses to help support his mother financially. At the age of 20, he moved to Los Angeles, California, without knowing anyone, pursuing his dream with determination, using the money he earned performing at the Santa Monica Pier.
He became a finalist on La Voz US, where he was mentored by Carlos Vives. Later, he toured Central America alongside his mentor Maelo Ruiz as part of the salsa ambassadors La Salsalvador All Stars. Thanks to his talent, Jimmy has shared the stage with numerous internationally renowned artists.
He also performed as part of Carlos Vives’ concert in El Salvador during the “Después de Todo, Vives” tour. From 2020 to 2023, Jimmy served as the lead vocalist of Adolescentes Orquesta, becoming the first Mexican artist to join the group.
At the end of 2023, Jimmy released his single “El Rumbón”, produced alongside Motiff and Tony Succar, who have worked with global stars such as Marc Anthony, Gente de Zona, Wisin, and Tito Nieves, among others.
“La Salsa de Ahora” is a new anthem revitalizing salsa worldwide. Featuring artists such as Motiff, Ronald Borjas, Luis Figueroa, Jonathan Moly, and Nesty, the track blends the best of salsa with vibrant Latin rhythms, marking the beginning of a fresh movement that brings renewed energy to the genre.
One of Jimmy’s most remarkable milestones was opening for Marc Anthony in December 2023 in El Salvador—an opportunity few artists experience. His stage presence and charisma captivated the audience, leaving a lasting impression.
In January 2024, Jimmy made history by performing at Mexico’s prestigious Auditorio Nacional, as part of Olga Tañón’s concert. There, he performed his hit “El Rumbón” and shared the stage with the iconic Puerto Rican singer, further solidifying his status as a world-class artist.
Jimmy has also had the honor of sharing the stage with salsa legends such as Tito Nieves. Alongside his fellow artists from “La Salsa de Ahora”, he performed in Puerto Rico, where his passion and sound resonated deeply with the audience.
Through dedication, talent, and perseverance, Jimmy Rodríguez has won the hearts of thousands of fans worldwide. In 2024, Jimmy achieved major milestones, including collaborations such as “Millonario Remix” with Randy Malcom, “La Visualizo 2.0” with Jonathan Moly, “Somos Radio” with Gilberto Santa Rosa and Apple Music, as well as an exclusive performance at Marc Anthony’s birthday celebration alongside La Salsa de Ahora. He also released “Cielito Lindo”, reimagining one of Mexico’s most iconic songs in a fresh salsa version.
In 2025, Jimmy Rodríguez continued making history in salsa. He performed at Salsa Fest 2025, where he sang the classic “Conciencia” alongside Gilberto Santa Rosa, earning a standing ovation. That same year, he performed at Peru’s National Stadium, sharing the stage with legends such as Marc Anthony, Rubén Blades, and Víctor Manuelle, and performing an emotional duet with Peruvian star Daniela Darcourt.
To cap off an unforgettable year, Jimmy was invited as a special guest by Tito Nieves at Arena México as part of his 50th anniversary world tour, solidifying Jimmy Rodríguez as one of the most relevant and respected young voices in modern salsa.
